Dressing like a pathogen: Comparative analysis of different Pseudomonas genomospecies wearing different features to infect Corylus avellana

چکیده

During the last decade, European hazelnut (Corylus avellana) has been threatened by several bacterial and fungal infections. In particular, at least four different Pseudomonas species have developed capability to converge into same host. However, one of these species, avellanae, may infect other hosts as well. Here, we newly provide complete genome sequence two avellanae strains obtained a combination long Oxford Nanopore Technologies reads (ONT) short Illumina reads. These included in comparative analysis with all genomes known Corylus avellana available on NCBI database, infecting host plants, like Prunus, Actinidia from river epilithon. The clustered according their taxonomy, geographic origins. identification specific traits related each population cluster could give us insights regarding host–pathogen interaction range specificity. Indeed, peculiar set three type III secretion effectors, while Prunus are carrying genomic WHOP island, necessary for woody-host infection. syringae cluster, instead, contains more phytotoxins, ice nucleation but less effectors. Thus, here, confirmed that convergence was possible due unrelated mechanisms

In vitro cell cultures obtained from different explants of Corylus avellana produce Taxol and taxanes

BACKGROUND Taxol is an effective antineoplastic agent, originally extracted from the bark of Taxus brevifolia with a low yield. Many attempts have been made to produce Taxol by chemical synthesis, semi-synthesis and plant tissue cultures. However, to date, the availability of this compound is not sufficient to satisfy the commercial requirements. The aim of the present work was to produce suspe...

Pseudomonas syringae pv. coryli, the Causal Agent of Bacterial Twig Dieback of Corylus avellana.

ABSTRACT Thirty-eight bacterial strains isolated from hazelnut (Corylus avellana) cv. Tonda Gentile delle Langhe showing a twig dieback in Piedmont and Sardinia, Italy, were studied by a polyphasic approach. All strains were assessed by fatty acids analysis and repetitive sequence-based polymerase chain reaction (PCR) fingerprinting using BOX and ERIC primer sets. Representative strains also we...

Comparative analysis of different Pseudomonas strains that degrade cinnamic acid.

Strains of Pseudomonas stutzeri (CINNS) and Pseudomonas putida (CINNP and CINNW) isolated from soil with cinnamic acid as the sole carbon source were found to be simultaneously adapted to grow on phenylpropionic and p-hydroxybenzoic acids. In cinnamic acid-grown cultures, phenylpropionic acid was isolated. A catabolic plasmid of approximately equal to 75 kilobase pairs encoding the metabolism o...
